Making a $ Online?

A quick bit of background. For the last few years, I played poker for my fun money. Now, poker has passed me by and I'm not good enough to make money from it anymore, so I went in search of other options.
I think in these uncertain times it's always good to have options, or an out so to speak. I only have about 18 months on my work contract and an uncertain future left after that, so I needed to go about building up some possible future income.
I know some friends who went into building various websites online, initially poker websites, and then branching out into all sorts. They recommended a product called affiloblueprint which you can find here and it was ridiculously helpful in getting me up to speed in no time. I literally went from knowing absolutely nothing about internet marketing to having a page ranked first in Google and making a sale through it in 4 weeks.
The first site I built was based on DIY Solar Panels, where I put up lots of articles about solar energy, solar panels, energy efficiency etc with affiliate links to DIY guides which show you how to build your own solar panels at home. This site is at www.thesolarhub.com.
I got it built in about a month and set about getting it ranking well in google by trying to get backlinks through article marketing and good on-page SEO. Basically just following affiloblueprint to the letter. Just recently, I finished the 5 part mini-course on solar energy which I'm using as the foundation for my mailing list for the site. I still have some tidying up to do with it before its a finished article. Overall, I'm not delighted with the keywords I picked for the articles as I think they're not the type of keywords that people type in when looking to buy something, but its not a bad effort for my first site.
Almost before I was finished the first one, I set about my second site. This one is based on panic attacks and anxiety, and promotes self help guides to reduce anxiety and eliminate panic attacks. It can be found at www.beatpanicandanxiety.com. I only have about 1/3 of the articles up at the moment and am going on holidays this week so it'll be some time before it's close to a completed article. I have got the mini-course for it finished and it's top quality stuff. Hopefully not so good that people don't buy the products though!
My goal over the remainder of my work contract is to build maybe 10 of this type of blue print site and work hard to get them on page 1 of Google. If they make 3 sales a week each at roughly $30 per sale, thats a reasonable income with not TOO much input required once they're up and running. I'll go from there then if I achieve that. So far only one sale made, but its early days and it can take 3 months or more to see your pages ranking well. Already for the solar site I have 5 pages in the top 30 for their targeted keywords.
Hopefully I can keep this updated regularly with my progress towards 30 sales a week within 18 months!
